The Warriors Morning Report: Let it go, Stephen Jackson. You’ve won already.
Filed under: The Morning Report; Tagged as: Anthony Morrow, Don Nelson, Monta Ellis, Stephen JacksonBy Geoff Lepper
48minutes.netYour (mostly) daily guided tour through the national and local media coverage of the always-entertaining Golden State Warriors.
WEB MEDIA
NBA.com (Geoff Lepper): Yes, it’s an absolute, bald-faced abuse of power in the interest of self-pimpage. And your point is what, exactly?NBA FanHouse (Chris Tomasson): Even from across the country, Stephen Jackson keeps on bashing the Warriors’ commitment to winning. You’ve gotten out, Stephen. You won. Just let it go, man.
NBA FanHouse (Matt Steinmetz): Quoting from the Don Nelson show: “It’s not unreasonable to think that the coach will discipline his player when the player isn’t doing the right thing in practice. What’s the problem with that? That’s my job description. That’s what happened and that’s what I did. . . . Evidently, some people are having a problem with that. I’ll do it tomorrow and I’ll do it the next day and I did it with Tolbert.”
Yahoo! Sports (Marc J. Spears): I would have thought this was obvious, but, quoting from Marc, “The Golden State Warriors are optimistic that the Stephen Jackson trade will make it easier for them to re-sign Anthony Morrow at the end of the season.”
Examiner.com (Mike Massa): Gamer and notebook.
BLOGOSPHERE
Talking Points/San Jose Mercury News (Tim Kawakami): The transcripts, from post- and pre-game.Golden State Warriors/San Francisco Chronicle (Rusty Simmons): I didn’t use it because it was so hokey, but perhaps Monta’s funniest quote was this: “We’re all going to put it together and make this one, big, happy family.” Plus: The halftime report.
PRINT MEDIA
San Francisco Chronicle (Rusty Simmons): Gamer and notebook.Contra Costa Times (Curtis Pashelka): Gamer and notebook.

Starting to wonder about this point guard class. Curry has had better loking results with Jackson out of the way but he could easily end up on the lower end of a list 10-12 names deep.
But he sure had curb appeal.

It takes 3 years time to evaluate a class of PGs.
Any high pick playing for Nelson is at a disadvantage.
Right now Jennings, who is a lefty, looks like a steal at 10. Not only for his production under task master Scott Skiles, but it’s been reported he moved near the practice facility to put in extra time and he bought a ford focus.

No, we don’t have to “wait” like the Warriors PR always seems to suggest we do.
10-12 really good to outstanding point guards in this draft. Some will live up to their full potential, some won’t, some have higher ceilings than others.
Curry’s the oldest of the bunch and looks pretty slow in comparison, among other things. We’re biased and he’s famous. This is dangerous ground for the latest round of Warriors youth hype-over-multimillionaires. Again.

Correction: 10-12 COULD BE really good to oustanding.
I’ll wait like that.
