So here is the collection of Tweets that substituted for our typical live in-game entry. Start from the bottom if you want to read in chronological order.]
POSTGAME
** INSTA-STAT OF THE NIGHT: GSW assists in the second half? A whopping seven. That’s not an offense. That’s complete stagnation.
FOURTH QUARTER
** FINAL HOU 108, GSW 107. Morrow with a tough miss over 2 Rockets at the top of the key for the tie. Curry with the meaningless putback.
** Morrow in. Azubuike out, so it’s Morrow, Jackson or maybe Curry.
** 4Q, 6.6 seconds. HOU 108, GSW 105. Brooks’ travel gives W’s a final chance. I assume they have to bring in Morrow. Maybe Azubuike?
** It’s a comedy of errors: Scola bricks two FTs, Ariza ORebs but loses handle, Curry tries oop to Biedrins that falls 3 feet short.
** Of course, HOU goes right back to Scola, who drives and draws FTs on Turiaf.
** Curry with a second straight pullup J after good D forces ball out of Scola’s hands, cuts lead to 5.
** 4Q, 5:01 left: HOU 104, GSW 95. Losing to a depleted Rockets squad, on the second-half of an all-road back-to-back … not a good start.
** I will give Maggette this much: He’s rebounding (team-high 9) and cleaning up on the defensive end.
** Can I put it any more plainly? Corey Maggette launching 20-footers is losing basketball.
** @jason_wilson, @warriorsworld, @DHawawini: I need more crowd noise to mask this woman’s screeching. Where’s Franco Finn when you need him?
** And this comes as some kind of surprise? RT @bluefintoro SJax is a black hole. All movement stops when drives to rim 1-on-3 leading to TO.
THIRD QUARTER
** END 3Q: HOU 87, GSW 81. Scola scored 15 of 19 in that quarter as HOU had 16 points in paint. No offense can overcome this D.
** The third-quarter woes continue for the W’s, who have been outscored 32-13 so far, with 1:25 left. HOU shooting 14-for-19 post-halftime.
** There’s a striking blond in Sect. 123 who keeps screaming every time Chase Budinger gets into the game for the Rockets.
** Jackson is having an animated discussion with Tony Brown after another foiled drive. Meanwhile, HOU opens the lead to 75-71 at the other end.
** Warriors are showing a lot more purposeful off-ball movement than last season, and it’s leading to some easy buckets.
** 10-3 Rockets run gets Morrow off the bench, replacing Curry.
** AR opens second half in place of Biedrins, who was deserving of replacement.
HALFTIME
** Meanwhile, Devean George is looking good on the W’s inactive list RT @PDcavsinsider Shaq’s +/- was..gulp..-25. Marco Belinelli you ask? +19.
** Corey Maggette has a game-high +10 at the half. Shane Battier, King of the Plus-Minus, posts a game-low -8. #theworldisupsidedown
** HOU down to 37.2 percent shooting. Aaron Brooks can’t generate enough open shots, and nobody else, save Ariza, can create their own looks.
SECOND QUARTER
** END 2ND Q: W’s 62, HOU 52. AR with the 3-pointer at the buzzer … Maybe this kid should get more than 3 minutes in the second half?
** Shane Battier had that Randolph pass dialed in 20 feet before AR even thought about making it.
** Stephen Curry’s shot — 18 foot airball — still MIA. Apparently, NBA defenders are faster than those in the Southern Conference.
** AR at the scorer’s table. Kelenna Azubuike is having a hell of a quarter, BTW.
** @warriorsworld I think Nellie feels AR isn’t focused on dirty work - not enough rebounding, defending, running the floor. My interpretation.
** Andris Biedrins is not having a good night. Ugly TO on heels of Hayes, Landry, and even Lowry attacking him in the lane with impunity.
** W’s can’t buy a bucket from within 3 feet of the hoop right now. Just ugly.
FIRST QUARTER
** After 1Q: W’s 28, Rockets 26. Ragged game (5 TOs each). W’s outshooting Rockets 54.5%-41.7%, but HOU has 5 treys to GSWs 0.
** Whoops. Make that 12.
** Nellie said prior to game he considered Monta a good defender. Wonder if he’d like to answer that again as Ariza has already hung 9 on Ellis.
** Curry strips Brooks on his way up, pushes into front court, finds Monta in L corner, where he upfakes and rips uncontested dunk.
** SJax slides a pass through the two defenders off a side S/R with Turiaf, who hammers down the uncontested dunk, then holds his hand up to his ear on his way back downcourt, listening for boos.
** Time for an ill-advised SJax chuck from 3-point land: 84 seconds. He hit the under, but just barely.
** Crowd reaction to SJax layup off Curry S/R on W’s first possession: Three-thirds cheers.
PREGAME
** Stephen Jackson’s response: Maybe two-thirds boos, one-third cheers.
** All these pre-game pyrotechnics for a 29-53 Warriors team … what if they’d won 30 last season?
** There’s something hilarious about the Rockets starting a 6-9 PF, 6-8 SF, 6-8 SG and (allegedly) 6-6 Chuck Hayes at C.
** More Nellie: Anthony Morrow is 3rd guard behind Monta/Curry. Azubuike (who’s available tonight) will back up Jack at 3. Mags to play 3/4.
** That said, Nelson also allowed that Randolph “is 20 years old. I’m not disappointed (in him) at all. I’m very excited about him, actually.”
** Make of this what you will. Don Nelson: Anthony Randolph still not 100 percent … and he wouldn’t be starting tonight even if he were.
