C-Webb still has the Warriors’ back
Straight off the pregame show on TNT:
Charles Barkley: I’m telling you, the Clippers are going to be a surprise team in the West. And C-Webb just bet me, we’re going to bet a nice dinner, that the Clippers are going to have a better record than the Warriors, which is a no-brainer. The Clippers and Oklahoma City are BOTH gonna have a better record than Golden State.
Chris Webber: Oh, wow. The Clippers are real good at being terrible. They’re very consistent, every year. I’ve got Golden State having the better record.
CB: Every now and then, an ugly girl wakes up pretty.
Now, I know Charles is a veteran Warriors-hater — who can forget his promise that Dallas would beat Golden State in the We Believe playoff series? — but this just borders on the ludicrous. The Clippers, with Blake Griffin missing six weeks? The Thunder, who are still even younger than the Warriors?
Hey, Chuck, let me know where I sign up, buddy.

You know Barkley’s attitude toward gambling. “Hey, I’ve got it to lose.”

I could understand (somewhat…) where Barkley is coming from though. Kaman, Camby, Thorton, Gordon, and Davis. Their starting five just sounds more intimidating them ours. But that was before watching the Clips vs Lakers tonight. It was awful. Absolutely no chemistry on that team. Slow and predictable.
Thunder still have a way to go but they’ve got some young talent. So I would have to disagree with Charles there.
He’s just a Warriors hater because he doesn’t believe in small ball winning. (he’s not the only one out there)

Sure the Warriors might be better. Especially after that BD showing today. And OKC is younger (especially comparing each teams’ best players). But “borders on ludicrous”?
All 3 are in that same lousy group with Memphis just a notch ahead of teams like Minny, Sac. Houston is the team that’s hard to place. Their talent screams Minny/Sac, but there is always a chance that McGrady comes back and puts them in the aforementioned grouping.

I saw the pregame and enjoyed C-Webb. He thought a Clippers team sub-500 in January would be blown up and that Griffin’s knee injury could send the Clippers down that path.
Hypothetical: We’ll be swapping Davis for Jackson.
In January C-Webb’s sub-500 Clippers trade an unhappy Baron Davis for Stephen Jackson and Speedy Claxton. The salaries match enough but GSW will be taking on a bit more with Davis than what they send to the Clippers. GSW also send to LA an expiring contract.
Then GSW will have to trade Monta Ellis, which I think they can pull off by Feb.
One surprise, the box score shows Artest and Odom both played 40 min.
