Game No. 28, live: Warriors (7-20) at Bobcats (9-18)
Filed under: Commentary;FOURTH QUARTER:
** CC: You’re right — Belinelli is already light-years ahead of Jamal as a defender.
** Biedrins with five fouls; unless Nellie sends out Kurz and Turiaf up front, it’s up to smallball to maintain the lead until the final stretch.
** They leave Biedrins in . . . high-risk, potentially high reward.
** Or, high degree of flip-flopping.
** There’s little more delating than having your opponent drain a 3-point desperation heave with 2 on the shot clock.
** Unless, of course, it’s having your opponent come right back with a trey of their own.
** Not to be needlessly negative, but this game brings back memories of closing with the small lineup against Miami during the Heat’s visit to Oakland.
** Down 5, 28.3 seconds left, and you airball an FT? That’s brutal, Emeka.
** I’m surprised Crawford didn’t tackle Marco there.
** 50 at the line for Crawford seems like a bit of a cheat, but that’s a wrap.
THIRD QUARTER:
** If Azubuike can make that feed to Wright, it’s a dunk.
** Jr Honda: I hear what you’re saying, but Ellis is staying in Oakland, working on his rehab, which is a better use of his time.
** Eddie: They would fill the exact same role on this team, which is why I never put much stock in that specific rumor.
** Let’s see if the Biedrins-Turiaf pair works any better than last night.
** Good job by AB of menacing Felton’s shot but retaining rebouding position all the while.
** Wallace uses that same cradle-the-ball-in-your-arm-like-it’s-a-football drive that Azubuike and Monta Ellis favor. It may be effective, but damn is it ugly to watch.
** Crawford is moving into that realm where he could win this thing single-handedly, at least at the offensive end. He’s already had a pair of 50-point games in his career; a third would move him up to a tie for fifth on the list of 50s among active players. The rest of the list:
Kobe Bryant 23
Allen Iverson 11
LeBron James 5
Tracy McGrady 4
Shaquille O’Neal 3
Gilbert Arenas 3** He still has problems sharing the ball, but give Azubuike credit: This is his best ball of the season.
SECOND QUARTER:
** Is it bad to admit that I kind of forgot Ryan Hollins even existed?
** It’ll be interesting to see how Belinelli deals with drawing greater attention on offense based on this litle spree.
** With four rebounds already, Kelenna Azubuike is having another nice floor game, but his offensive game is fooling no one: Especially not Wallace and Hollins, who practically fought each other for the right to spike Azubuike’s predictable drive in the open court.
** The Bobcats are starting to just muscle the Warriors when Golden State’s on offense. How will they respond?
** Boris Diaw’s two straight post-ups on Rob Kurz — you don’t think they’re targeting him, do you?
** Raja Bell drills a third 3 over Belinelli, another reminder that Marco fares better against bulkier players — even guys who outsize him by a fair amount — than he does against guys who have a quickness advantage over him.
** It definitely feels like Jamal Crawford had 16 in that period. Since it seems dropping 16 to outweigh giving up 12 is the only way Crawford can be successful, it’s a damn good thing he’s playing on this team.
FIRST QUARTER:
** Brandan Wright is not doing me proud here. The miss on the first shot wasn’t bad, but getting blocked from behind? Not so good, Al.
** And then: You can’t let Gerald Wallace split between you and the pick of Sean May, Brandan.
** I know it’s Wallace’s strength, but there’s no way in hell that he should heist an offensive board from right between two Warriors.
** Say whatever else you will about his game, but Marco Belinelli does not lack for panache.
** Anthony Randolph and Wright suffer from the same propensity to get blocked or fouled while going up for a 3-footer.
** It doesn’t feel like Jamal Crawford has seven points, but the boxscore don’t lie.

Sure would be nice if Ellis could at least sit on the bench with the team.
-
I see absolutely no reason why the warriors would want to trade for Raymond Felton. He’s being outplayed by Crawford and has zero impact on the game.
-
Marco Belinelli will never be Jamal Crawford.
-
At the end of the day, this is just two crappy teams.

I have to agree with CC’s comment.
-
I want rebounding more than I want 4 assists. Every time.
-
Marco looks to involve his teammates, crawford is a streaky score first player. Nellie always tries to switch up from what works in the fourth. Small ball doesn’t suit this team, but he always goes to that lineup when it matters.
-
Marco is garbage. Eventually, folks will get it. But for now they’re desperate.
-
Geoff, you’re off your rocker to bother mentioning Marco and defense in the same sentence without “bad” or a synonym attached. Even comparatively, he earns no points.
-
50 points on free throws?
-
Marco at least has a swagger and shown an ability to make plays. I’d take his floor game over cj or kaz any day.
-
Eddie, you can have it over CJ. But Azubuike ust won a game Marco was unnecessary to.
Take your swagger talk back to LA.
-
Kaz was good today, but what happens when he’s not making his shots? How well will his 0 assists in 42 minutes help then? He’s a one dimensional player. Although, judging from recent front office decisions, i’m sure CC hasn’t seen the team play for months.

Its amazing the bias by some on here against Crawford and hes been here three weeks and as a 20 ppg scorer hes been doing nothing but feeding inferiors scorers trying to play team ball so I cant see how it can be considered anything bias.
Crawford- 77 assists in 15 GAMES for the Warriors
Jax has 123 in 24 games
CJ has 71 in 26 games
Buke has 38 in 27 games
Marco has 31 in 19 games
I love Marco’s play but hes not even close to Crawford on any level right now but he has the tools to be .
I imagine Crawford has to be in shock a bit imagine being a 20 pt scorer and going to a team where you have all these bench players throwing up shots whenever they get it .They all have very little passing ability and yet you are expected to set them up to score.
I think a Monta/Crawford backcourt is gonna be ridiculous we just need another experienced skilled bigman lol as if those are just everywhere.
-
Marco does not have the toolz. This is fool’s gold. Sell high, and trust me, the league couldn’t care less about Marco’s 3 decent games in the NBA. “High” is actually nothing. So we’ll keep him for his inevitable fade into ghosts of Nellie Wing play irrelevance Past.
Our fans are so ripe for the sucker’s deal. They’ll never learn.
No wonder Rowell and Cohan have no respect for them. They’re total rubes.
-
i’ll take Azubuike over Jack at the small forward spot anytime!!!!!
-
Wow, so we play conventional most of the game and we win. Actually, I’m not surprised. We play so much better when everyone is in their natural position. lol, small sucks so bad. It took 28 games for Nellie to finally play it right. Geez.. what a waste.
-
That said, watch Nellie go small against Orlando, because it worked so well when we lost by 12 at home. lol
-
who are CC, Eddie and Jr. Honda?
