Maggette out, Turiaf to start
Just a quick note from shootaround at Oracle Arena:
Corey Maggette’s sore hamstrings will keep him out of the Warriors’ game Wednesday against the Denver Nuggets and probably from the rematch against Memphis on Friday, according to coach Don Nelson.
Ronny Turiaf is expected to start at power forward, meaning that Al Harrington will slide down to the 3. Despite the rumors of trades swirling, Harrington participated in shootaround.

Interesting to see how Al responds to playing at the 3. Less banging, presumably…but will he still be a bricklayer from distance? He was effective at the 3 against the Raptors in our uberlineup.

What are the trade rumors swirling? Any specifics?

I actually like Harrington playing the 3. He will never be a good or even competent 4, so why bother fitting a square peg in a round hole. Let him play the 3 where he can use his size to show off his complete game.

Jay: If I had something I thought was credible, I’d post that. But clearly somebody is stirring things.

Geoff,
Why not start Buike? Does Nellie consider him the 6 man now and a scoring threat off the bench? If so, I think that is a terrific role for him and I would like to see him grow into that. I don’t think this team has had a reliable 6 man since Sarunas and his kneepads came off the bench.

pboss,
I know you directed your question to Geoff, but my take on it is that Nellie probably thinks Turiaf is a better matchup to this Nuggets team than maybe Azubuike…
Considering the Nuggets have Smith, Melo, K-Mart and Nene… it may very well be better suited for Turiaf to start at the 4 and bring in Kelenna in and out throughout the game… Just my 2 cents.
I’d love to see Azubuike start at the 2 though…

Maybe Wright will get an extended look tonight. If Maggette being out doesnt give this guy some time- nothing will.
-
If we’d just give Stephen Jackson more money and signed him through 2013, everything would be fine. I don’t even work for him and I know that.
-
Nene is big dude, we need Ronny out there to body him. We SHOULD have done this for the Memphis game, I don’t understand why Nellie waited so long to play Ronny in that game.

I do like the way you have presented this particular challenge and it does present me personally some fodder for consideration. However, coming from everything that I have witnessed, I just simply wish when the remarks stack on that people continue to be on point and not start on a tirade involving some other news du jour. Yet, thank you for this excellent piece and even though I do not necessarily concur with the idea in totality, I value the perspective.

Looks excellent! Something to help you certainly give some thought to. It’s a terrific theme, clear plus fresh, we like it! Good contrasty. Easy on the eye. I am much impressed from your vision. Clean, simple and extremely cool-looking. Nice features, too. Thanks!
